Owner, Grower, Chef
Hi, I'm Becky!

I have worked in the food industry for two decades, beginning with fine dining in Baltimore and moving on to boutique catering and event coordinating. I had to leave the fast-paced industry that I loved when I discovered, in the same week, that I was expecting my first child, and I had a brain tumor. A year later, getting used to life with an infant and having undergone brain surgery, I began the long process of reshaping my life.
My healing process was slow, but it was during this time that I planted my first garden and began changing my relationship with food. As my introduction back to the culinary world, I had the opportunity to work alongside one of my former colleagues in his personal chef business and learned how rewarding it can be to cook directly for clients. This experience also reinforced the importance of sourcing from local growers and makers whenever possible.
When my family and I moved to Glen Rock, PA, I went all in on growing our own food, and there was plenty to spare. Along with my friend and neighbor, I started Love Sown Family Farms, selling produce, eggs and microgreens to our local community through farmer's markets and small stores. As much as I enjoy growing food, my passion is really in using what I grow to cook with, preparing meals for my own family, and for others.
I began Garden Grown Chef so that I could share all that I've learned about garden-to-table seasonal eating and the ways in which food can be both fuel and medicine. I am currently pursuing a certification in Functional Nutrition so that I may best serve my clients' individual needs as I continue to make balanced meals for busy people.
